Devery S. Anderson is marketing manager at Signature Books, a scholarly press in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has published several books and articles on Mormon history and has a passion for the American civil rights movement. His book, "Emmett Till: The Murder That Shocked the World and Propelled the Civil Rights Movement," was released by the University Press of Mississippi in August 2015 to high acclaim. It has been optioned by Hollywood and is the basis of "Women of the Movement," a six-part limited series about the Till case that aired on ABC in early 2022 and currently streams on Hulu. Filming wrapped in April 2021. It was produced by Will Smith, Jay Z, Aaron Kaplan, Rosanna Grace of Serendipity Films, David Clark of Mazo Partners, and Alex Foster and John Powers Middleton of Middleton Management. Anderson is passionate about his research and writing, is a stickler for accuracy, and has been known to drive across the state to locate a footnote he recorded only partially. He is funny, passionate, and driven. His newest book, released in March 2023, is "A Slow, Calculated Lynching: The Story of Clyde Kennard." He is also wrapping up work on the life of Willard Richards, an early Mormon apostle. He hold a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah, and a master's in publishing from George Washington University. He lives in Salt Lake City and is the father of three children and grandfather of two.
