Alta L. Price runs a publishing consultancy specialized in literature and nonfiction texts on art, architecture, design, and culture. She translates from Italian and German into English, is currently vice president of the New York Circle of Translators, and is a member of the PEN Translation Committee. She has collaborated to produce texts on nonfiction subjects ranging from Caravaggio to contemporary sculpture, Egypto-Armenian photography, ecological architecture, and the vertiginous nature of list-making. Her fiction translations include work by Gabriele Pedullà and Dea Loher. Alta became enamored of epigraphy, paleography, and lettering of all sorts while living in Rome, and is coordinator of the biennial Legacy of Letters tour. She has also contributed to publications including Words Without Borders, 3 Quarks Daily, Candide, Log, Progetto grafico, and TipoItalia.
