Kate Watson-Smyth is an author and journalist who has been writing about interior design for more than 20 years. As well as four best-selling books, her work has been published in the Financial Times, Sunday Times, Daily Telegraph, Guardian, Independent and Grazia. She writes a monthly column for Red magazine and her home has been featured in the Wall St Journal, Corriere della Sera and Remodelista. Kate began her Mad About the House website in 2012 to showcase content that complemented her newspaper work. Since then, it has become the UK’s no.1 interiors blog and won every major internet publishing award. Her Instagram has been named as one of the 10 essential interiors accounts to follow by both Vogue and the Sunday Times. Kate’s books include Mad About The House: How To Decorate Your Home with Style, Mad About The House: 101 Interior Design Answers, and Home: The Way We Live Now, published in April 2023. Kate is co-founder of Design for Diversity – an industry initiative that has been adopted by brands including Farrow & Ball, Heal’s and Sanderson. Her popular #DoLessHarm directory highlights design companies that are mitigating their environmental impact, enabling buyers to make better choices about how they decorate and furnish their homes.
