Samantha De Tillio is a curator and writer who specializes in American art and material culture, modern and contemporary craft, and contemporary glass. She is Curator of Collections at the Museum of Arts and Design, where her current exhibitions include, Beth Lipman: Collective Elegy, the artist's first major monograph and scholarly assessment, and Craft Front & Center, a collection exhibition which aims to subvert traditional hierarchies in the arts and advocates for the central role of craft in art and society. De Tillio is a Contributing Editor to GLASS: The UrbanGlass Art Quarterly and her writing has also been published in Metalsmith, and the Journal of Stained Glass, as well as numerous exhibition catalogues. She has a Master of Arts in the History of Decorative Arts from the Smithsonian Associates with George Mason University, Washington, DC, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University at Albany with minors in Ancient Greek and Roman Civilizations, and Spanish, where she also studied drawing and painting. She has held various curatorial and research positions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, the Thomas Cole National Historic Site, and the Albany Institute of History and Art.
