
David Prince has served as the pastor of preaching and vision at Ashland Avenue Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky since 2003. He served as an adjunct instructor of Christian preaching and pastoral ministry at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky from 2006-2011, and currently, serves on the faculty as Assistant Professor of Christian Preaching since 2012. David is the author of 'In the Arena: The Promise of Sports for Christian Discipleship' (2016, Broadman and Holman), 'The Church with Jesus as the Hero' (Ashland Publishing, 2015), and 'Jesus the Hero Family Devotional' (Ashland Publishing, 2016). David has contributed the following chapters in other books: “The Pastor’s Home as a Paradigm for the Church’s Family Ministry,” in Trained in the Fear of God: Family Ministry in Theological, Historical, and Practical Perspective, eds., Randy Stinson and Timothy Paul Jones (Kregel, 2011), “The Birds and the Bees: The Gospel and Your Children’s Sexuality,” in Sexual Brokenness and the Hope of the Gospel (Leland House Press, 2014), “Lead from the Front—The Priority of Expository Preaching,” in A Guide to Church Revitalization, ed. R. Albert Mohler (SBTS Press, 2015), and “We Need Fools in the Pulpit,” in But We Preach Christ Crucified: Preachers on Preaching (MBTS Press, 2015). David is also currently working on Exalting Jesus in Numbers: Christ-Centered Exposition, eds., Daniel Akin, David Platt, and Tony Merida (Broadman and Holman, forthcoming). In addition, David’s preaching and teaching ministry is extended through his Prince on Preaching blog (davidprince.com) and media ministries. He is also a regular writer for The Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention (erlc.com), For the Church (ftc.co), Preaching Today (preachingtoday.com, Christianity Today), The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (Decision Magazine), and The Center for Church Revitalization at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. David is a graduate of Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama where he received a B.A. (1991) and played on the baseball team. He received a M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas (1997). He completed his Ph.D. at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky (2011). His dissertation was 'Developing a Christocentric, Kingdom-Focused Model of Expository Preaching.' The central labor and passion of David’s life and ministry is preaching Christ and applying the gospel to every area of life. He is committed to Christ-centered, Kingdom-focused expository preaching. His goal is to treasure Christ together with the community of believers at Ashland Avenue and to declare His supremacy in all things to the ends of the earth. David has been married to Judi since 1992 and God has blessed them with eight children. The three oldest are boys (Luke, Will, and Jonathan), the five youngest are girls (Lydia Grace, Susannah Faith, Sarah Hope, and Phoebe Joy, and AnnaBeth Mercy).
