Alexis Mamaux is a history teacher and the Dean of Academics at the United World College of the American West in Montezuma, New Mexico USA. She began teaching IB history in 1996 and became an examiner and workshop leader shortly thereafter, and spent time as a TOK teacher and EE coordinator. Ms. Mamaux has the distinction of being the first online facilitator for IB workshops and created short-lived content-based history workshops in the late 1990s. Although her professional field is 20th century world history her more recent passion is the history of the original Las Vegas - and northern New Mexican history more generally. When not thinking and writing about history she hikes and cheers for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ms. Mamaux has one son who somehow managed to escape an IB education and is now studying at the University of Utah. She lives with her partner and dog across from the Carnegie Library in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
