Andrew J. Kaufman, M.D., remains in private practice in Thousand Oaks and Santa Barbara, California. He is the Medical Director of The Center for Dermatology Care, a multispecialty group of dermatologists and plastic surgeons whose primary focus is the care and treatment of skin diseases, skin cancer and cosmetic surgical procedures. Doctor Kaufman specializes primarily in Mohs micrographic surgery, facial reconstruction and dermatologic surgery. Doctor Kaufman attended University of California at Los Angeles School of Medicine, where he received his medical degree. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and another residency in dermatology at University of California at Los Angeles School of Medicine. He is one of a small group of physicians board certified in two specialties. Doctor Kaufman completed a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Surgery at the University of California at San Francisco School of Medicine. He was elected as Fellow of the American College of Physicians and is a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery and American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He continues to teach residents and medical students at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, where he is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Dermatology. Dr. Kaufman regularly lectures at international dermatology and plastic surgery meetings on Mohs surgery, reconstructive surgery and other facets of dermatologic surgery. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the American College of Mohs Surgery. Currently, he is the author of twenty-five scientific articles in the medical literature and four book chapters on topics in dermatologic surgery. He is co-editor of the second edition of Flaps and Grafts in Dermatologic Surgery and author of a Practical Facial Reconstruction, Theory and Practice.
