Dr. Laura M. Willis is a Family Nurse Practitioner at Urbana Family Medicine and Pediatrics, part of the Mercy Health system. Dr. Willis holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Kettering College, a Master’s degree in Nursing from both Indiana Wesleyan University (nursing education focus) and Frontier Nursing University (family nurse practitioner) and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Frontier Nursing University (FNU). She has experience in critical care and trauma, teaching, public health and international community health, and primary care. She is a recipient of the 2006 George B. Nelson Fellowship Award from Kettering College, the 2013 Nurse Practitioner Leadership Award from FNU, the 2012 Community Service Award from Kettering Health network, and was the 2017 recipient of the Mercy Health Physicians group Service Excellence- Advanced Practitioner Award. Dr. Willis is a the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American Nurses Association, the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau, and the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN), serving as a member of the Research grant review committee. She is an author, contributor to various nursing texts, a clinical editor working on several books for Wolters Kluwer in the 'Incredibly Easy' series of nursing texts, and is currently a member of the Duke/Johnson & Johnson Nurse Leadership Program. Dr. Willis’ additional professional interests are in the areas of under-served populations, care of LGBTQ individuals, and social justice.
