Jane Haworth is an art quilter, teacher and writer living in Northern California. When not quilting she writes non fiction and fiction with Placer Gold Writers.
Born in Devon, England Jane grew up with a love for exploring arts, crafts and textiles. She received a degree in Textile Design with a focus on weaving from Carlisle Collage of Art and Design. Her career path took her to various sewing focused jobs and she became proficient at clothing production at a Laura Ashley factory in North Wales. During this time Jane also qualified with a diploma in Interior Design
Moving to California with her young family in 1998 Jane eventually became aware of traditional quilting and quickly became hooked. With a desire to design her own art quilts she educated herself with all things quilting and art quilting. With nothing holding her back she entered her early quilts into juried shows in Paducah and IQF Houston and was accepted.
As her hobby slowly grew into a full time career, she taught sewing arts locally to both children and adults. Jane now teaches nationally and International to quilt guilds, quilt shops and quilt shows. Teaching at Road to California, Craft Napa, International Quilt Festival Houston and the Dubai International Quilt Festival. She opened an Etsy shop in 2011 called Quilts from Clothes and continues to make custom T-shirt, necktie and memory quilts for customers all over the world.
Jane currently travels to teach and lecture about her quilting, she makes custom quilts and designs new artwork for exhibitions. She is a member of SAQA, Mountain Art Quilters, and her local Foothill Quilters Guild in Auburn, CA. She ives at home with her high school aged son, patient husband and adopted cat KitKat. With her family, including two daughters, she loves to explore California, camp, backpack and visit England.
