Frederic Faust

Fredric Franklyn Faust makes his living writing about the history and technology of military and commercial weapons. Unlike most kids of his era, growing up Fredric Faust's first firearm was not a .22 rifle, but rather a military surplus high-powered rifle. Faust scrimped and saved wages earned at a Sporting Goods store, where he worked nights and weekends, in order to buy a Lee-Enfield Rifle No. 5 Mark I. Then, to be able to afford firing the Jungle Carbine, he reloaded commercial ammo using a Lyman 310 tool and dies. As an explorer Scout in a firearms and camping focused post he fired at paper targets once a week for two years. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army, became a paratrooper, trained in Military Intelligence and was assigned to a Special Forces unit overseas. He qualifed as an expert marksman with both the M14 and M16 rifles. After the military he attended journalism school at the University of Iowa and became a professional writer with hundreds of articles published in newspapers and magazines around the world.
