Brenda E. Cortez

Brenda E. Cortez was born and raised in the suburbs of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is a living kidney donor to another mom in need, which is what inspired her to write her first book about donation. Brenda is the creator of Howl the Owl and his special message of "Help Others With Love", and she is also the author of the Howl the Owl book series. In addition to children's books, Brenda enjoys helping others share their stories. She shared her own journey from living kidney donor to author in her chapter in "Because of Organ Donation", where she also invited 24 others to also share their organ donation story. In "Voices-19", Brenda shares 19 stories of loved ones lost too soon to keep their memories alive. Brenda also specializes in book coaching, developmental editing, and publishing. Brenda loves visiting schools and other venues to share her special message of Help Others With Love - HOWL! She speaks on a number of empowering topics including organ donation facts and statistics, kindness, helping others, and reading and writing for young authors.
