Dr. Terance L. Shipman

关于作者

Dr. Terance Shipman brings 29 years of teaching expertise to his profession, dedicating much of his career to working with elementary students. He spent his first 11 years as a kindergarten teacher, building enduring relationships with students, parents, and colleagues along the way. This extensive network, which Dr. Shipman affectionately calls “Team Shipman,” reflects his commitment to encouraging, leading, and mentoring not only his former students and their families but also his professional peers. Now a middle school teacher, Dr. Shipman continues to grow Team Shipman, extending support to his current students and their families. *Mr. Shipman’s Kindergarten Chronicles* captures cherished moments from his years teaching kindergarten—stories that bring a smile to Dr. Shipman’s face as he reflects on his career. Each book in the series celebrates the role of male teachers, especially Black male educators, who remain underrepresented in the field. Through his stories, Dr. Shipman highlights the importance of positive, strong Black male role models in education, showing children an inspiring image they can relate to and aspire toward. He hopes the *Kindergarten Chronicles* will make kindergarten an eagerly awaited adventure for students, parents, and teachers, while also expanding the Team Shipman community. Dr. Shipman earned his bachelor's degree in elementary education at Tuskegee University in 1992. He then completed a Master’s in Elementary Education at Hampton University in 1994. For the next 13 years, he taught in the Atlanta Public School System, primarily in kindergarten. In 2009, he earned an Educational Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of West Georgia, followed by a doctoral degree from Clark Atlanta University in 2013. Since then, he has taught middle and high school students, with Team Shipman continuing to grow every step of the way.
