David Blacklock grew up in New Zealand and has been variously a seaman, an artists' representative, a restaurant director, a charter yacht captain, an English teacher, a landscape contractor, a sailing instructor, an editor, a podcaster and a door-to-door salesman, among other things. He sometimes forgets which country he is in.
