Donna Cox Baker has a PhD in history and a quarter-century of experience in communications, editing, and publishing. She retired in 2021 as the director of the Alabama Heritage magazine team at the University of Alabama. Baker runs her own writing and publishing business, Golden Channel Publishing, established in 2017. Her passions are genohistory (the intersection of genealogy and history) and spirituality. She has authored three books on genealogy and history and coedited a fourth, a bicentennial edition for the state of Alabama. Her best-known title is Zotero for Genealogy, a how-to book about using her favorite record-keeping tool: Zotero. She and her husband Mac live in Anniston, Alabama.
