David Brayley is an award winning and best selling author from Swansea, Wales. In 2020, he collaborated with Wales & British and Irish Lions legend, James Hook, in a series of children’s books called ‘Chasing a Rugby Dream’. The first book in the series, ‘Kick-Off’, won in the prestigious Telegraph Sports Book of the Year Awards, being crowned Best Children’s Sports Book of the Year for 2021. The second book in the series, ‘Impact’ was released in October 2021, and followed ‘Kick-Off’ to the top of Amazon’s Sports Fiction for Young Adults. David has also written two autobiographies for elite sportsmen, cricketer Tony Cottey and Wales international football captain, Ashley Williams. He has also written two official books for former Premier League football team, Swansea City. October 2017 saw the publication of David’s first novel - ‘Champion of Champions’. Acclaimed author, Peter James, called it “a great, inspirational and pacy read, beautifully written and utterly enriching with a stunning climax”. David is committed to improving the awareness of reading for pleasure with young people, especially via sport, and has worked closely with the Premier League and National Literacy Trust on their Premier League Reading Stars Programme. David also makes countless visits to schools promoting reading and delivering writing workshops based around sport.
