Cara Hanley finds beauty and magic in the silence that exists between all the “doing” in our lives. To her, this is life’s essence. In fact, her inner silence is most apparent when she is painting and drawing alone in her bedroom. Cara combines the classic techniques of watercolor and gouache painting along with detailed line drawing to create emotionally inspired artwork that encourages introspection and mindfulness.
Cara enjoys living and engaging in the energy of the urban environment, but she delights in refilling her tank with moments of solitude, like sipping a quiet cup of morning coffee alone in a busy café, reading books curled up on the couch with her cat Zipper, and noticing the stillness of urban architecture while taking an afternoon walk in her neighborhood. Cara illustrates because it feels good to imagine and appreciate and she wants to share this experience with you.
Cara Hanley received a Bachelor of Arts in art history and psychology from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, a Master of Social Work in clinical social work from the University at Albany, and she has also completed fine arts coursework at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and University at Albany.
