Stephanie Redfern

关于作者

A ceramist for 20 years, Stephanie began working in textiles and mixed media in 2003. She now concentrates entirely upon these media, enjoying the immediate sensation of colour, design, line and shape using drawing, print, textiles techniques and text. Textile work starts with an interface of design and material. She paints and prints her fabrics using a variety of media, and constructs her work using collage and stitch. Many of the best things that happen are a combination of personality, experience, life and the patterns and spaces that move her. She also writes the texts she uses in her work. Her work consists of artist's books, large wall hangings, and smaller pieces of textile work, which may be free hanging, framed or on canvas. It has been extensively exhibited and purchased and resides in many parts of the world. She has taught children, adults and special needs students for over 30 years, and has been artist – in - residence at many schools, several times at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, and has worked with patients and staff in an Arts Council funded project in the cancer unit of a large hospital. She has also curated a number of exhibitions, both in textiles and ceramics. She has written a wide variety of magazine articles, and has been lucky to win a number of prizes for her textile work. She is a member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, and the group Art Textiles: Made in Britain.
