Robin Kazmier's roots are in Atlanta and Chicago, but she knew early on she wanted to live in Latin America. So when she didn't come home from her vacation in Costa Rica, no one was terribly surprised. She spent about nine years there, during which she worked on a cocoa farm, led medical Spanish immersion programs, and eventually came to science writing by way of publishing. As an editor at a small natural history press, she put together field guides, children's books and nature photography books. In 2016 Robin left Costa Rica to pursue a master's in science writing at MIT and is now a freelance science journalist based in Boston. Her work appears in NOVA Next and MIT Technology Review.
