I have committed my life to teaching children and helping them to reach their full potential. I have two children of my own, ages six and seventeen, each of whom I love with all my heart.
A firm proponent of equal opportunity in education, I believe strongly that kids are the same everywhere and capable of achieving greatness when placed into situations conducive to their healthy development.
When I got my start in teaching, I was wide-eyed and full of optimism, just like almost every other beginning teacher I have seen. I have remained vigilant, aware of the danger of burnout, because I know that my optimism in turn transfers over to the kids in my classes. When they see that I believe in them, they are then inspired to believe in themselves. Confident learners: that is what I want to help to create!
As a teacher, I emphasize the importance of reading. I work tirelessly to instill in my students a passion for reading, viewing this habit as one that will lead to overall academic improvements. Time and again, I have watched in awe as my students have transformed their worldviews as a result of reading stories. I admire young people’s hunger to learn more and seeks to feed that hunger any way that I can.
