Kimberly grew up in a small town in Southern Louisiana, surrounded by friends and family. As a child, her fondest memories were playing outside for hours, collecting blackberries, and swimming in the Calcasieu River. With a population of just 1,500 her town was the kind of town where everyone was either a family member, a friend of the family, or knew your family by name. At an early age Kimberly enjoyed writing stories and playing make-believe. As she grew so did her imagination. When Kimberly turned fourteen my family relocated to California, where she took an interest in journalistic writing. After high school graduation she attended California State University, Long Beach where she majored in English and Journalism. Midway through her junior year she changed her major to Creative Writing and decided to follow her passion to become a writer. She became a High School English teacher in the early 1990s, married her high school sweetheart, and currently has three children. After earning her master’s degree, she began teaching English with the University of Phoenix online. She published my first novel, Mulatto Blues in 2017 and has since published several children's book titles including Lily Pad, Whaaa Moooo, Lavish and Posh, Samantha: What are you Thinking?, Girls Love Dragons Too, GoodNight Vacuum, GoodNight Excavator, Beautiful Flower Forever, If You Teach a Giraffe Yoga, The Day the Earth Awoke and more. Additionally, Kimberly has written several short stories and is currently working on her next novel.
