Julie Gillum Lue is the author of three children’s guides to the national parks: What I Saw in Rocky Mountain (short-listed for a Reading the West Book Award in the Young Readers category), What I Saw in Grand Canyon, and What I Saw in Grand Teton (a 2018 finalist in the children's category for the High Plains Book Awards). Her work also has appeared in High Country News, Gray’s Sporting Journal, Montana Outdoors, Christian Science Monitor, and Big Sky Journal. Julie grew up in the Colorado mountains, where she learned to love the outdoors and public lands. After college, she worked for the National Park Service, mostly in Rocky Mountain and Canyonlands national parks. Later she transferred to the US Fish & Wildlife Service and the Forest Service.
