A lifelong Civil War buff, he grew up near the Shiloh battlefield in West Tennessee. He received his MA in Civil War Studies from American Military University. He also has degrees in Electrical Engineering and an MBA which he draws upon to help shape his unique approach to researching and writing Civil War history. As former president and co-founder of InfoConcepts, Inc., Michael was the co-developer of the American Civil War Regimental Information System and Epic Battles of the American Civil War software. He developed and maintained the 2nd Mississippi Infantry Regiment website from 2002 until 2015 and now maintains a 2nd Mississippi blog on his new website. He is also writing a regimental history to be released in the near future. A retired Air Force veteran, Michael now resides in Huntsville, Alabama.
