Katie Hull Sypnieski

Katie Hull Sypnieski has worked with English Language Learners and English proficient students at the secondary level for twenty-five years. She currently teaches high school ELA and ELD in Sacramento, California. She is a teaching consultant with the Area 3 Writing Project at the University of California, Davis and leads professional development for teachers. She is coauthor (with Larry Ferlazzo) of The ESL/ELL Teacher’s Survival Guide, Navigating the Common Core with English Language Learners, and The ELL Teacher’s Toolbox. She has written articles for the Washington Post, ASCD Educational Leadership, and Edutopia. Katie lives in Sacramento with her husband and their three children.
