DALE MCCONKEY (Ph.D., University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign) is associate professor of sociology at Berry College near Rome, Georgia. For more than 25 years, he has studied the cultural conflict between traditionalists and progressives in American religion. He is also pastor of Mount Tabor United Methodist Church in Armuchee, Georgia. For nearly a decade he served as the Berry College chaplain, and later directed the college’s Wesley Foundation.
For 26 years, Dale was happily married to his wife, Ingrid, until her untimely passing in 2012. He is the proud father of two adult children, Kristen and Stephen.
