I was born in 1953. I was the sixth generation Voreis to farm in Marshall County, Indiana. I consider myself fortunate to grow up and live on a farm all my life. I was a fulltime farmer following my high school graduation until my retirement at the end of 2013.
I have always enjoyed a good story and I have told a yarn or two myself…including all the Backward Planet and Grizzle Bear stories I told to my children especially on our many road trips. Writing a book was something that I never imagined I might do. Several circumstances arose which encouraged me to give writing a try. First, I would attribute it to the word processor. Before the computers became readily available, it took nearly a tree’s worth of paper for me to write one sentence. I can only guess, to write a complete letter with correct spelling, grammar and punctuation probably left a quarter section of the forest cut to the ground. For the second reason, I will blame on my two ankle surgeries which left me with a lot of time on my hands. The third reason is my wife giving in and agreeing to proof read my writing…Never underestimate the power of begging.
