Paul Michael Kurtz

Paul Michael Kurtz is a historian of intellectual and religious culture in modern Europe. His research focuses on the history of the humanities, especially philology, history, and theology. Much of his work has centred on representations of the Hebrew Bible and ancient Judaism in Germany from 1795 to 1920. Kurtz is an associate research professor at Ghent University. He is also a member of the Young Academy of Belgium and guest lecturer at the University of Groningen. Before coming to Ghent, he held research fellowships at Cambridge, Chicago, and Göttingen, where he completed a PhD in history. He has won grants and fellowships from the European Research Council, Marie Curie Actions, Fulbright Program, Research Foundation–Flanders, and German Academic Exchange Service.
