Though an avid reader from an early age, Julie discovered her passion for writing fiction in her late 30s. She has since published over thirty stories and essays, many of which can be found online. Her fiction and nonfiction have appeared in a variety of publications, including CRAFT, Tikkun, The SFWP Quarterly, The MacGuffin, Salt Hill, Sixfold, Ellipsis, MoonPark Review, Crab Orchard Review, Jewish Women's Archive and others. The Book of Jeremiah was the runner-up for the 2018 Press 53 Award for Short Fiction and is her debut collection.
Julie holds a BA in political science from Barnard College, Columbia University, and a MA in international relations from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs.
A native of Connecticut, she now lives in Modiin, Israel, with her husband and four children. When she’s not writing, she can be found reading, running, biking, birdwatching, baking or trying to grow things in her garden.
