I am a licensed and permitted tour guide in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I love capturing wildlife, landscapes, the Milky Way, and waterfalls with my camera.
I am writing these how-to guides as a result of my own struggles to learn how to capture a Milky Way photo and being unable to find any simple guides on how to accomplish it. I researched and ultimately realized that shooting the Milky Way was the easy part!
The hard part was knowing when, where, and why (e.g., just as you don't want to shoot a sunset on a perfectly clear night, you don't want to shoot the Milky Way on a cloudy night). With current technological standards there's no reason to waste time and money going out on a night that won't be ideal.
After some investigation I have realized the need for other guides.. I am in the process of adding other favorite topics to my guide book list.
So I compiled helpful advice about the best methods for photographing difficult subjects that have proven useful to visitors I've instructed and guided. Enabling tourists to have a wonderful experience visiting the National Park has brought me great joy.
Now I'm making those same methods available to anyone who wants to take a few minutes to read my guides.
