Binyamin Appelbaum is the lead writer on economics and business for The New York Times Editorial Board. From 2010 to 2019, he was a Washington correspondent for the Times, covering economic policy. He previously worked for The Washington Post, The Boston Globe and The Charlotte Observer, where his reporting on subprime lending won a George Polk Award and was a finalist for the 2008 Pulitzer Prize. He began his career at the Florida Times-Union. Mr. Appelbaum is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. He lives with his wife and children in Washington, D.C.
