Alex Bolboaca was born in the mythical lands of Transylvania, Romania, in 1977, the year when Star Wars launched. He read the first book on computers when he was 10, and found the topic fascinating, which pushed him towards the new domain of software development. Fortunately, the main obstacle towards his desired career was pushed away with the Romanian Revolution from 1989, leaving Alex free to pursue his interests. Alex is very close to the "Explorer" Jungian archetype, which shows in the variety of things he gets involved: * he used his programming skills in multiple industries (printing, advertising, energy, banking, ehealth etc) * he started programming in C++ but then branched out into multiple programming languages and paradigms: Java, C#, groovy, python, ruby, PHP, Javascript etc * he went through diverse roles: programmer, team leader, technical lead, project manager, software architect, product owner, CTO * he worked in about 10 European countries and in UK as a programmer, trainer, or coach * he is a speaker at conferences (including openagile.ro, itakeunconf.com, cppeurope.com, Software Craftsmanship London, craft-conf.com etc) * he is interested in many domains besides software development; he can make intelligent conversation on topics such as geopolitics, various cultures around the world, behavioral psychology, change management, quantum physics, semiotics or linguistics Currently, he is the CTO of Mozaic Works, maintaining the infrastructure of the company. At the same time, he works with clients on Digital Transformation, technical proficiency, architecture, and team organization from various roles as trainer, technical adviser, technical coach or agile coach. He is a proponent for increasing quality in software development through his involvement in the Software Craft movement. Throughout his career, Alex has never forgot his love for writing, as you can see on his blog https://alexbolboaca.ro, on the Mozaic Works blog https://mozaicworks.com/blog, in publications such as Today Software Magazine or Agile Record Magazine, and in the books he published. Alex is the first to admit that he was extremely lucky: he avoided the vampires of Communism through sheer luck, he loves a domain that opened a lot of possibilities for travel and learning, he got associated with the Coderetreat format (and the Software Craft movement) by being in the right place at the right time, he got to enjoy the Star Wars and MCU series of movies, and he got to write about things that are interesting to him and proved interesting to others. As an Explorer, he's always thirsty for more knowledge, for more exploration, and for mixing knowledge from different sources. You can find Alex on twitter @alexboly, on his blog https://alexbolboaca.ro, on Mozaic Works https://mozaicworks.com and, when he has some remaining time for Q&As, on Quora https://www.quora.com/profile/Alexandru-Bolboaca.
