Jennifer Hooper has lived in the Blue Mountains for most of her 60 years with only a few attempts at leaving, but is always drawn back to the place she now calls home.
Mother of two adult children, Jennifer has written poetry for most of her adult life and has kept journals of her escapades, enjoying the freedom of the written word and their ability to transform the mundane into another world full of wonder. Her greatest achievement, she believes, has been raising her children on her own into two people, though vastly different, still continue to fill her with pride and amaze her with their transformation into the fine adults they are today.
Jennifer uses her own life experiences to delve deeply into the psyche of her characters, sometimes crossing over into the spiritual translation of the more unusual aspects of our understanding, bringing forth an eclectic view of the world.
Jennifer’s hobbies include gardening, a pastime which connects her to nature and all its influences, both to the relationships between each aspect, and how they affect us when we are tuned in to the flow of complementary energy around us. Another favourite pastime is visiting opportunity shops wherever she goes and flushing out a bargain or two.
Over the years Jennifer has been an artist, making objects for her own enjoyment and to share with friends. Clay sculptures adorn friends’ homes and have been commissioned for overseas clients. Silver spoon wind chimes sing out in homes across the land, all hand-worked from an imagination that works overtime to provide beauty to anyone who desires an item to inspire joy. A year spent illustrating in black ink gave an opening into the crafting of words, their intricate details the precursor to the lyrical sweetness words have to the mastery of inflection, a musical rendition of the interpretations of a mind that hears the melody of ideas, and transforms them into a reality we can all share.
