I've worked in the nuclear industry since studying physics at university. Most of that time has been spent in the field of 'nuclear safety' - ensuring that the reactor is always ready to cope with anything that might go wrong. I've often found myself having the same conversations about physics, engineering and safety with each new starter or graduate who joins the industry. The book 'How to Drive a Nuclear Reactor' is an attempt to write down that material - hopefully in a way that will entertain both industry insiders and those from elsewhere who are simply interested. You don't need to be a graduate or even a physicist to read it! I've volunteered on the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways since being at school. In my spare time I also write computer programs - including reactor simulators (for work) and simulators for signalboxes on the Ff&WHR (google 'Porthmadog Simulator', if you're interested).
