David L. Porter

David L. Porter is a retired Army Colonel with twenty-seven years service as a Combat Arms officer. In addition to Vietnam, he served multiple tours as a career Cavalry officer on the inter-zonal border between East and West Germany during the cold war. Culminating in February 1990 as commander of the Third Infantry’s Divisional Cavalry Squadron during the turbulent days in Schweinfurt as “the wall” between East and West Germany collapsed. He served in command and staff positions in other combat divisions, at the Armor School/Center, and various other staff positions including as a member of the Army Staff at the Pentagon. Upon retirement, Porter became the Director of Admissions at Colorado Technical University, in Colorado Springs, Colorado followed by an over twenty-year career as a Government contractor. His contractor responsibilities focused principally on training American Soldiers at various locations throughout the United States and Germany. He and Susie, his wife of over fifty years reside in Jackson, Tennessee.
