A lawyer by training but banker by profession, Conrad Waters was educated at Liverpool University prior to being called to the bar at Gray’s Inn in 1989. His interest in maritime affairs was stimulated by a long-family history of officers in merchant navy service and he has written on historical and current naval affairs for over 35 years. This included six years producing the ‘World Navies in Review’ chapter of the influential annual Warship before assuming responsibility for Seaforth World Naval Review as founding editor. He has also edited Navies in the 21st Century – shortlisted for the 2017 Mountbatten Maritime Award – whilst his latest book – British Town Class Cruisers – was published at the end of 2019.
