With a lifelong love of the ocean and a permission slip from his Mom, at 17, Josh Schieffer joined the US Submarine Force. While stationed in Pearl Harbor, Josh attended Chaminade University with a focus on International and Business Communications. After a four year tour (mostly underwater) Josh started a successful career in manufacturing with an emphasis on Environmental Health and Safety Excellence. While traveling to factories throughout the world Josh received a BA in Business Management and an MBA in Project Management.
Josh leveraged his Naval experience and brought similar submarine training systems and cultures to the organizations he served. He has presented his methodologies at several national conferences and to SeaWorld and Disney executives.
After a Celiac Disease diagnosis for both Josh and his youngest son, he partnered with Team Gluten-Free, a fundraising arm of the Celiac Disease Foundation. Josh has raised financial support and awareness nationally and internationally by participating in marathons on three continents and completed Wilmington's Beach to Battleship Full Ironman. In 2010 Josh founded the Gluten Free Awards, an industry awards program designed to connect those with Celiac Disease to the best products and services. He has published several bestselling books in the gluten free market and continues to be a Celiac advocate.
While continuing his book publications, Josh has joined Watermans Warehouse, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit as it's Executive Director. Watermans Warehouse provides free and reduced priced swim lessons to local children and adults who are under financial stress.
