I was born at home in Blount County, Tennessee, on October 12, 1942. I'll soon be 80 years old. I went to West Side School, Bungalow School, Union School, and Everett High School. My college years were spent at Carson-Newman and Maryville College. I also took classes in business from UT in Knoxville. My family moved many times during these years, finally ending up on Water's Road, where we had a few acres to roam, trees to climb, and neighbors to antagonize. I started writing after being married for 25 years, having a daughter, getting a divorce, and opening my own business. I did patterns and samples for the upholstery of boats and worked for most of the big ones in the industry at their facilities. Having time on my hands after work, I started writing. Not much at first, just one page about a subject-a type of devotional. 400 pages later I had a light bulb. As a 16-year-old, who learned to drive ferrying my mother to places to check on Tipton history, I certainly can relate to stories about them. Naturally, I'm talking about fact and fiction, legend and lore--and there was plenty associated my ancestral family. My books are written around history, some about my family and some happening in greater America. I follow the Tiptons from 500 a.d. in Germania through history. There are some gaps, but I'm working to fill them. As a Christ-follower for over 65 years, I write with this in mind. Not afraid to mention His name or His message.
