Wayne Fitzgerald

Sergeant Wayne Fitzgerald joined the Irish Defence Forces in 1990, serving with the 5 Infantry Battalion until 1997, before moving to Eastern Command HQ. He has worked in a number of roles in the Army's 2nd Brigade HQ and the Irish Air Corps HQ. In January 2011 he was detached to Defence Forces HQ to work on www.military.ie as a content manager/editor. He then became the editor of the Defence Forces Connect newsletter and from May 2011 to May 2020 he was editor of An Cosantoir, The official magazine of the Irish Defence Forces. Wayne has served overseas as a peacekeeper with the UN, EU and NATO PfP in Lebanon (1991), Kosovo (2002, 2010) and Bosnia (2008).
