Tania Israel is a Professor of Counseling Psychology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Raised in Charlottesville, Virginia and educated at the University of Pennsylvania and Arizona State University, Dr. Israel is known for her work on bridging political differences, social justice, and LGBT psychology.
Dr. Israel’s expertise has been solicited by the Institute of Medicine, Congress, and the White House, and her TEDx Talk on bisexuality is widely viewed. Her honors include 2019 Congressional Woman of the Year (CA 24th District), Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Award for Excellence in Mental Health from the California Asian & Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus, Emerging Leader Award from the APA Committee on Women in Psychology, and Shining Star Award from the National Multicultural Conference and Summit. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association.
