Melody writes Children's and Middle-Grade books.
Melody firmly believes that one should never completely grow up. That is why she has chosen to spend her days writing for a younger audience. Melody resides in Jacksonville Florida with her beloved corgi Gatsby, and her husband Dylan. She started her writing career with children's picture books and has now pivoted to middle-grade novels.
Her first book The Prince and the Pupper, is an adaptation of the classic "The Prince and the Pauper". It is a tale of two corgis that look almost identical but have very different lives. Two corgis get into quite a mix-up and learn a valuable lesson about what life is all about.
Her most popular book, Short and Stubby Wins the Race, is an adaptation of the beloved folktale "The Tortoise and the Hare." This is a story of a corgi and his owner that overcome all obstacles in order to prove that with hard work and dedication anything is possible.
Robin Hound is an adaptation of the heroic tale "Robin Hood." This is a story of a corgi named Gatsby who helps the poor animals that live on the streets. This story shares a message of kindness and that anyone can help no matter how small.
Jumo the Unicorn is her first co-authored book with Amanda Young. It is about a rhinoceros who wants to be a unicorn. This story shares the message of acceptance and inclusion.
She believes that children are eager for more books with strong-willed characters that deal with darker and more interesting topics. Her debut novel, A Girl Called Ruthless, is inspired by the fiery girls in her fourth-grade class. This novel was published in August 2021. It is a #1 Bestseller and winner of the 2021 Reader's Choice Award in the category YA/Middle-Grade.
When Melody is not writing or teaching others how to write, she can be found planning her next big trip to some magical place she has never been to.
