Dr. Nazita Lajevardi is an attorney and political scientist. Her bachelor's degree is in Political Science and French from the University of California, Los Angeles. She holds a J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego. Her doctoral work focused on the the sociopolitical discrimination that Muslims face in the U.S.
Dr. Lajevardi is currently a professor of Political Science at Michigan State University. She has authored, coauthored or co-edited 3 books on topics surrounding the intersections of politics and race, religion, and policing in America.
