James M. Bourey

Jim Bourey is currently engaged as an author of professional books and novels. Most his 43 year career, Jim served as a local government manager, working in chief executive positions in city, county and regional councils in locations throughout the US. He also worked in the private sector as the Director of Corporate Development for Elliott Davis and Director of Management Services with McGill Associates. Jim’s management career includes serving as the County Administrator for Hennepin County, Minnesota (Minneapolis) and City Manager for Newport News, Virginia and Greenville, South Carolina. He held a variety of other local government management positions in Seattle, Washington; Phoenix, Arizona; Tampa, Florida and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Jim has developed over twenty annual budgets, some exceeding one billion dollars and has been the chief executive in organizations with as many as 10,000 employees. He has extensive experience in leading the design and execution of large capital improvement programs, some also exceeding one billion dollars. Jim has substantial experience and success in obtaining state and federal funding and also served as a professional city planner for many years during his early career.

Jim currently resides in the Seattle, Washington area with his wife, Ann. He has two daughters and two grandchildren. He is currently engaged as an author, writing professional books, articles and columns. He has been an avid runner for 50 years and has traveled extensively throughout the United States and visited 25 countries.
