Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Alejandro Arbona is a writer and editor of comics books, as well as an author of non-fiction books for young readers. Alejandro began his comic book career as an editor and writer at Wizard: The Guide to Comics before becoming an editor at Marvel Comics, Valiant Entertainment, and self-employed for clients including Image Comics and Kodansha USA/Penguin Random House, among others. At Marvel he was the assistant editor of Daredevil, The Immortal Iron Fist, Magneto: Testament, and Thor, and he has edited Invincible Iron Man, Red Skull: Incarnate, Spider-Man Noir, and more, as well as Casanova: Avaritia for the short-lived Marvel Icon imprint. At Valiant he was the editor of several critically acclaimed, fan-favorite titles including Imperium, The Death-Defying Doctor Mirage, Book of Death: Harbinger, and Book of Death: Legends of the Geomancer. Early in 2016 Alejandro began the most fruitful period of his editorial career, kicking off an ongoing collaboration with the writer Greg Rucka as editor on The Old Guard: Opening Fire and its sequel The Old Guard: Force Multiplied with artist/co-creator Leandro Fernández, Black Magick with artist/co-creator Nicola Scott, Lazarus: Risen with artist/co-creator Michael Lark, and many more unannounced titles to come. As a writer, he contributed a story to the anthology The Old Guard: Tales Through Time with the veteran artist Kano. In 2018 Alejandro edited the anthology Ghost in the Shell: Global Neural Network from Kodansha USA and Penguin Random House, featuring all-new stories set in the continuity of the original GitS manga, and he wrote the non-fiction history books Awesome Minds: Video Game Creators and Awesome Minds: Comic Book Creators for readers age 8 and up, from duopress books. Alejandro was the writer of the comic book mini-series Doctor Tomorrow drawn by Jim Towe at Valiant Comics, a humorous, action-packed, critically acclaimed reboot of writer Bob Layton's innovative, time-twisting, angst-ridden superhero. He also wrote the one-shot Rick and Morty Presents: The Hotel Immortal with artist Marc Ellerby (collected in Rick and Morty Presents vol. 4), in which the titular heroes investigate a locked-room murder mystery at the space resort where no one can (usually) die. Alejandro lives and works in Brooklyn with his partner and their dog and two cats.
