Born near Västerås in 1977, Lassgard spent the first years of his life in Åland, then lived in Warsaw, Stockholm, Nova Scotia and Utrecht before returning to Åland for love. Today he lives alternately in Germany and Sweden. Magnus Lassgard started to write crime novels in the late 90s, when he had to write police reports for a living.
This not only gave him a deep insight into police work and the tone of the force - it also sharpened his eye for details that play a role in investigations. It wasn't until his mid-30s that he began writing short stories and podcasts, many of which starred Alva Bergqvist and Majken Lund. Some were based on real-life criminal cases. He repeatedly interviewed criminal investigators after they retired from active duty.
Eventually Magnus Lassgard formed a pan-Scandinavian short story writers' collective, but then shifted himself to increasingly complex stories, which he published under various names.
He has never had Tuborg beer.
