Jay Garner is the president and founder of Garner Economics, LLC, an economic development and site location consulting firm headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. He never really considered himself an author, though in his 40-year career, he has written dozens of articles and research papers for many different publications. He’s applied his years of leading award-winning economic development organizations in places like Asheville North Carolina, Mobile Alabama and Chattanooga Tennessee, along with his seventeen plus years of leading his advisory practice to this book. When co – author Ross Patten called Jay about this idea of doing a help book for community leaders, Jay listened since reaching that audience has been a passion of his for four decades. When he’s not writing a book or making a living running his business, he’s involved with his other passion of playing drums in a big band jazz orchestra. When asked which is more difficult, writing a book or playing drums, his response was the typical response of economic developers, ‘it depends.”
