J.P. Stringer

The three volumes in the Brierley Bramble series were inspired by the many guinea pigs who have shared J.P. Stringer's life over the years: Sally, Titch, Pip, Duggie, McGuffy, Hazel, Ruby, Blossom, Rosie, Rumble, Dusty, Pippin, Bear, Womble, Chestnut and Bramble. The Stringer Pomeranians, Sasha and Lola, played a huge part too. The books are children’s stories, best enjoyed by confident readers or shared with an adult. The content and style of writing aims to appeal to grown-ups too. The tales contain a mixture of animal adventure with a sprinkling of natural magic and a touch of humour. J.P. Stringer cares deeply about the welfare of animals and the natural environment. Both these themes feature heavily in the stories. The author is Yorkshire born and bred, but now lives in Derbyshire with her husband, three children, two rescue guinea pigs and two dogs.
