Rezaul Islam is a sensitive and skilled writer in his native Bengali (Bangla). Born in Kushtia, East Pakistan (now Bangladesh), he moved to the capital city of Dhaka, with his family, when he was five years old. He obtained a Master's Degree in Population Science from Exeter University, U.K., in 1988. Following that, he worked for the Bangladeshi government, on population and other programs, for a number of years. He loves the songs of Rabindranath Tagore, and loves to read books. He has written several books. His "Soliloquy of 1971" (in its original Bengali version) is a popular book in Bangladesh.
