Joe Jansen has worked as a medical writer, marketing editor, and technical writer. As an editor on the “For Dummies” book series, Joe worked with authors to polish their books ranging from Beethoven to baseball, from gourmet cooking to crossword puzzles, as well as books on computers, software, and the internet. He has edited books on Indiana and Kentucky history, works of personal memoir, and historical biography. His writing has appeared in regional magazines like Shore and Kentucky Monthly, in historical magazines like Muzzleloader, and in outdoor magazines like Backcountry Journal and Outdoor Indiana. He was a contributing author on the Dummies book, “PCs for Kids & Parents.” Joe’s curiosity into the nature of grief and how we embrace life began when a young friend died of leukemia. His interest in understanding death as a part of life led him to four years working with dying people and their families as a hospice volunteer. Joe is a Marine Corps veteran, a graduate of Indiana University, and a member of Hoosier Outdoor Writers. He lives in central Indiana and regularly ventures into wild places to hunt, fish, and backpack.
