William is a dedicated Correctional Staff Advocate and Author who has been serving in the correctional profession since March 2005. Beginning his career as a Correctional Officer, William has worked in various capacities within his facility, from Sanitation to Segregation, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by correctional staff. In his current role as the Wellness and Retention Coordinator, William focuses on the health and wellness of staff, ensuring they have the support needed to navigate the demands of the correctional environment. William's commitment to his peers extends beyond his professional duties. He currently serves as the Assistant Coordinator for his agency’s Crisis Negotiation Team, oversees the Peer Support Team, and has been a part-time training instructor at his agency since 2009. His passion for supporting his fellow officers is further demonstrated through his authorship of two impactful books, When Home Becomes a Housing Unit and The Nothing That Never Happened, which explore how the correctional environment can deeply affect an officer's personal life. William’s mission is clear: to help his fellow brothers and sisters in the correctional field identify, manage, and reverse the adverse effects that come with their challenging roles. His advocacy is driven by a deep understanding of the profession and a commitment to ensuring that correctional staff have the resources and support they need to thrive both professionally and personally.
