I am a therapist who was diagnosed with ADHD and Major Depressive Disorder when I was 15 years old. For another 20 years I didn't see the effect that ADHD had on my professional life, my relationships, and my self-esteem. With the support of family and friends, I was able to stumble into the career of being a child therapist. I began to work with many children with ADHD and kept hearing them repeat the same struggles that I went through and display the same mindset that I dealt with for many years. The struggles of feeling out of control, that the world was against me and that I was cursed to make the same mistake over and over again. Since then, I've made it one of my main goals in my private practice to help children and parents learn about the wide ranging effects that ADHD has on children's self-esteem and their functioning at school and at home. As a former elementary school teacher in Dallas, TX I have an inside understanding of how ADHD can effect children (and teachers!) in a classroom setting.
