Capt. Pat Rains

Capt. Pat Miller Rains cruised Mexico for 5 years on her own trimaran before earning her U.S. Coast Guard 100-Tom Masters license, and teaming up with Capt. John Rains to delivery more than 90 yachts (sail & power) from Florida to California via the Panama Canal (and vice versa) for 18 years. Retired from yacht delivery, Pat and John Rains again cruise Mexico and Central America purely for pleasure – and to keep updating “Mexico Boating Guide” and “Cruising Ports: the Central American Route.” Pat has written 100s of articles for U.S. nautical magazines, including her monthly column Mexico Report. She’s an organizer for San Diego Yacht Club’s semiannual CUBAR Odyssey powerboat rally into Mexico’s Pacific coast, and she’s a supporter for the Panama Posse rally from San Diego to Panama to Key West (and vice versa, of course!) Pat holds a B.S. in Communications / Journalism, has edited cruising and kayaking books for International Marine Publishing and others.
